About The Globe
Perfectly sized for tabletops or desk tops, this nostalgic 1950s style 12" illuminated globe with striking contrast of the oceans and colourful land masses, featuring today's cartography, makes an attractive addition to any room. And, of course, when illuminated, the glow of the land against the dark oceans sets a perfect night time mood. The steel base finished in antique pewter and its die-cast, fully numbered meridian adds to the Orion's unique design and appeal. There is just something about black ocean globes. I wouldn't say this globe is "poor" by any means but I do feel it has too much detail/writing on the globe's surface.Quality Expectation Delivery Experience Website & Communication
It detracts from the natural simple beauty of oceans and landmass; it's as if every village in the Philippines is listed!
Also, the black is really black, I thought it might be a very dark blue but it's truly black.
I'll probably return it for a more conventional blue mapping.

A present for my husband. It looks lovely lit and the dark background sets it apart from other standard versions. If I have one complaint is that I wish it were larger and the place names more legible. I couldn't afford the very large one and nor do we have the space. All in all a nice gift.
