James Cook Blue Globe
Captain James Cook was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer, and captain in the Royal Navy. He made detailed maps of Newfoundland prior to making three voyages to the Pacific Ocean, during which he achieved the first recorded European contact with the eastern coastline of Australia and the Hawaiian Islands, and the first recorded circumnavigation of New Zealand. From him this desk globe takes its name.
The map is very detailed with major cities, rivers, seas and mountains all included. This globe is one of very few that feature the countries of the world in their own languages as well as in English. The globe ball itself is 13" (33cm) in diameter which is a noticeable size increase compared to 12" models.
The wooden stand is heavy in comparison to most desk globes and is wide enough for the globe to be very stable. The aluminium meridian is substantial, sturdy and has a high quality finish.
Manufactured in Italy by a 3rd generation family business this globe merges style, tradition and detail to create a lovely product.
