About This Globe
The Columbus Duorama globe combines many rare features to create a truly premium desk globe. The globe ball itself is 16" (40cm) in diameter making it in the largest category of desk globes available.
The cartography is totally up to date and shows physical mapping when the light is off. Physical mapping shows the deserts, forests and mountainous regions in great detail. The globe also features several thousand place names that should be large enough for any well sighted person to read, another benefit of a 16" globe ball.
When the light is on the you can make out the borders of different countries as the land masses change colour. This is called dual mapping, and on this globe, is a subtle but attractive effect.
The base and meridian are made of steel and the ball is made of heavy duty vinyl. This globe is illuminated via a cable and looks fantastic in a moderately dark room.

Firstly the experience of buying from JustGlobes was great. Not their fault but the globe arrived with a damaged bulb and top pivot. A sure sign of rough handling by the courier but getting it sorted was very easy thanks to the prompt and friendly responses.Quality Expectation Delivery Experience Website & Communication
The globe is awesome and looks equally great with the light on or off. When it's on you can just about see the country boundaries but not as obviously as I had hoped as the boundary lines are feint. So no great transformation when the light is on.
Ours had a two-pin plug as opposed to a three-pin, which means I am using it with a shaving adaptor.
The one design issue I do have is that the pivot/spigot thing that attaches the north pole to the outside arm is quite easy to break. The part was broken on arrival and the free replacement has also broken. I am ordering two spares! (Posted on 19/04/2020) - Excellent

Good quality, looks expensive...and it is! But, you get what you pay for!
Being of a larger size the detail is very good.
Looks brilliant at night when illuminated
My only gripe would be the electric cable enters the base at the front rather than the back..... but who cares?
